Sengkang was busy last night with kids up till 11 pm running amok in the playground. The atmosphere was great but those errant kids leaving spent sparklers in the playground really was a damper.

Josh was zig-zagging his sparkler in pure enjoyment. I wonder if we could enjoy such simple things full-on as worrying adults. My mom seemed to have it all figured out as she handed out one sparkler after another in glee. We, of course, don’t leave spent sparklers lying around for people, running toddlers to stumble upon.

Actions that lead to overwork, exhaustion, and burnout can’t praise and glorify God. What God calls us to do we can do and do well. When we listen in silence to God’s voice and speak with our friends in trust we will know what we are called to do and we will do it with a grateful heart.

But this cake on Teacher’s day was a nice dream. Another one of those deeply consoling things that have been happening all the time in this storm.

2 mins later on the stairs

in the meeting room. 5 mins later
1 year away from home…alone, dude, show me the papyrus
2 hrs later, at borders
