The four moons of Jupiter

The picture above had to be a little overexposed so that the moons are visible but this makes the dark bands of Jupiter indistinct.   The picture below shows the bands characteristic of Jupiter.

I saw this in September when Jupiter was shining very brightly above the moon.  Apparently that month was a good one to view Jupiter.

All this happen at a time when I just got Arthur C. Clarke’s “2061: Odyssey Three” where the story concerns one of Jupiter’s moon’s – Europa.  I happened to buy the book from the Singapore Expo at the Border’s closing down clearance.  Anyway, seeing Jupiter’s Galilean satellites, i.e, its 4 moons – Io, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto makes reading this book a little more sumptuous.
